Tim Starks joins The Post as writer of Cybersecurity 202 newsletter
Tim, who recently covered cybersecurity for CyberScoop as an editor, began writing on the subject for CQ Roll Call in 2003. Most recently, he wrote Politico’s Morning Cybersecurity newsletter from 2015-2020 His work has appeared in The Economist, Foreign Policy and The New Republic. He has written or contributed to cybersecurity articles that won three awards this year from the American Society of Business Publication Editors.
Originally from Evansville, Ind., Tim graduated from the University of Southern Indiana and wrote for his hometown Evansville Press as his first full-time journalism job. He then served as Statehouse bureau chief for the merger of Evansville Courier & Press before establishing the Washington bureau of the New York Sun. He was a Pulliam Fellow at the Indianapolis Star and reported for the Las Vegas Review-Journal and other newspapers while interning at the Washington Center for Politics & Journalism. He also won the 2009 National Press Club Sandy Hume Memorial Award for Excellence in Political Journalism, as well as Editors’ Honors from the Indiana Associated Press and the Hoosier State Press Association.
Tim founded The Queensberry Rules boxing blog, once dubbed “the best boxing blog” by the Wall Street Journal and ranked among the top 25 blogs of 2013 by Time magazine; his thoughts on sports have been quoted in publications such as The New Yorker and The New York Times. He lives with his beloved cat, Dr. Julius “Jules” Jonas Jonah Jameson.
