The Day – Let’s Go: “Evening with an Author” at the Otis Library

The Otis Library’s flagship event, ‘Evening with an Author’, will take place at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 3 at the spa at the Norwich Inn. This year’s live event features Patricia Walsh Chadwick, author of “Little Sister: A Memoir.”

Little Sister is Patricia’s account of her childhood in the Feeney sect, founded by Leonard Feeney, a controversial (soon to be excommunicated) Catholic priest. Their religious community requires members to hand over all earthly possessions and aspects of their lives to it, including their children. Separated from her parents and forbidden to speak to them, Patricia bristles against the draconian rules of the community, yearning for another life. When, at 17, she is banished from the Center, she faces the world alone, without skills, without family or money but endowed with a faith and a fierce determination to succeed on her own – which she does, eventually rising to the upper echelons of the world of finance and investment.

Patricia Walsh Chadwick had a 30-year career on Wall Street as a research analyst, portfolio manager and ultimately as a global partner at Invesco. In 2000, she started Ravengate Partners LLC, a consulting firm specializing in expert witness work and strategic analysis. Among her many pro bono activities, she mentors middle school girls at an East Harlem school and runs a health care business for the LGBTQ+ community in Connecticut. Patricia and her husband, John, live in Connecticut.

The “Evening with an Author” begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception and a silent auction. A dinner will be followed by a speech and a book signing by Patricia Walsh Chadwick. Tickets are $125 per person and include a copy of “Little Sister: A Memoir.”
