The author of My Dress-Up Darling had an intense reaction after watching the first episodes of the series

Shinichi Fukuda is in heaven for “My Dress-Up Darling”. The mangaka confessed to rewatching the first two episodes over and over again and couldn’t be happier with the quality of the series (via anime intuition). “I received the first and second episodes of the anime’s full package and watched them. Everything was so good that I cried with emotion,” Fukuda said. “I watched it over and over for a total of 13 hours, so happy and joyful that I’ve never been happier in my life as a manga artist.”

Since adaptations aren’t always so well received by their creators, the team behind “My Dress-Up Darling” is obviously doing something right. As if the news that Fukuda had cried with joy wasn’t enough already, the fact that they spent a staggering 13 hours watching what equates to roughly 45 minutes of anime is about as excited as one could hope for. .

Plus, Fukuda’s take on the show is a stark turnaround from the nearly numb response the overworked creator originally had to the adaptation. “I was tired after the deadline, and I’d been up all night and couldn’t think straight, so I had a vague feeling that it was someone else’s problem” , said Fukuda. “I thought it was something that would never happen to me in my life, so I didn’t feel it at all.” While it’s natural to have some time to calm down before evaluating such important news about your work, it’s good to know that Fukuda appeared on the anime version of “My Dress-Up Darling” and is now able to enjoy it just as much as the fans do.
