Romsey author becomes an Amazon bestseller with an educational book
A Romsey AUTHOR has thanked his followers after his book became an Amazon bestseller within four hours of its launch.
Vanessa Dooley has published the third edition of her book Are you ready for inspection? and it climbed the charts to be named the number one bestseller in three categories – preschool and kindergarten books, school inspections and early childhood education, writes Kirsty Dawson.
Vanessa is also the founder of Jigsaw Early Years Consultancy.
Her book is a practical guide to support those working in early childhood. It provides early childhood practitioners with the tools to motivate their teams to assess and improve their practice. It gives advice to facilitate Ofsted inspections.
Vanessa published the first issue of Are you ready for inspection?, in September 2018, which was also a bestseller.
The second edition was published in August 2019.
The third edition highlights the shift in Ofsted inspections following the pandemic and the stress and anxiety this has caused for many owners and practitioners.
Vanessa said: “Over the past 21 months, Early Years has maintained consistency with what children need.
“Life has changed dramatically and having firsthand knowledge of working with early children and as a former Ofsted inspector I knew I could help relieve some of the stress and anxiety that accompany an inspection.
“The book has been rewritten and includes many free downloads to help support the settings of the world we find ourselves in now.
“With two new chapters and 12,000 words, I am thrilled and amazed at the number of messages I have received since its launch.
“Thanks to everyone who bought and supported it, in just four hours it hit number one.”
Vanessa has worked with children or with people who work with children since 1987.
She has had a varied career in the sector, ranging from nursery research nurse, group leader for several nurseries in Hampshire, qualified early years assessor and internal auditor, to founder of Jigsaw Early Years Consultancy.
She is also a qualified teacher in the early childhood sector and a lecturer for the basic diploma.
