PCPA will host a community discussion, The Road Home, featuring nationally acclaimed authors Francisco Jimenez and Octavio Solis at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Guadalupe City Hall, 918 Obispo St.
The event is free and open to the public, and attendees are required to wear a face covering when inside.
The Conversation is one of many free community events related to the performance of Solis’ play”Mother road“, which is played at the PCPA in Santa Maria from Saturday, March 12.
The discussion will be moderated by Samuel Duarte, a local poet and director of Family Service Agency, where featured authors will discuss their literary works inspired by author John Steinbeck and life on the Central Coast.
Jimenez will share stories from his childhood, immigrating with his family to California from Tlaquepaque, Mexico as a child working in the fields.
His works include “The Circuit: Stories from the Life of a Migrant Child”, which has been published in over 50 literature anthologies, and a number of award-winning books. He is currently Professor of Modern Languages and Director of the Ethnic Studies Program at Santa Clara University.
Solisa prominent Latin playwright, is the author of more than 20 plays and has received numerous grants and awards for playwriting.
He grew up in the borderlands of El Paso, Texas, and is the author of a recent memoir “Retablos, Stories of a Life Lived Along the Frontier.”
The PCPA will present a new production, “Mother Road” at the Severson Theater in Santa Maria from March 10-27.
