The first book by original author Henrico J. Matthew Helms, The Song of Circe and other simple reflectionswill be released on September 14.
A collection of poetry described as reflecting “the love and disdain that define the human soul, inviting us to explore within ourselves the darkest corners of our oldest legends”, the book contains passages that offer new perspectives on the myths of the gods while exploring human emotions.
Selected poems include “The House of Sadness”, “The Quest of Circe” and “Of Dreams”.
Helms is a project manager for a local custom-built company who has been writing poetry for years. It began to play a more crucial role in his life five years ago — when he made the choice to get sober — as a way to express the wide range of emotions that come with battling addiction.
