Families, students, teachers and children’s book lovers are invited to Wood County District Public Library’s Meet the Author program with Carole Lindstrom and Michaela Goade, Caldecott Award-winning author and illustrator of “We Are Water Protectors.” . This duo of authors and illustrators will give a conference on April 2 at 11 a.m. in the Atrium.
The Randolph Caldecott Medal is awarded annually to the most distinguished American children’s picture book of the previous year. The 2021 Caldecott Medal winner, “We Are Water Protectors,” is inspired by Indigenous-led movements across North America and is a rallying cry to protect the Earth’s water from damage and corruption.
It’s an opportunity for teachers and students to meet and hear from an award-winning author and illustrator, and a chance for kids to meet the creators of their favorite book.
During the program, there will be a book discussion where Lindstrom and Goade discuss the creation of “We Are Water Protectors,” followed by a Q&A and book signing. Books will be available for purchase from the Friends of the Library. Goade will be virtually present while Lindstrom will visit in person.
