Jeanette Greaves wrote Ransomed Hearts following her first book, Fight for the Future.

Jeanette started writing stories about a family of werewolves in the early 2000s, but had to wait years to see her dream of being published come true.

Jeanette, who lives with her husband Adrian and their two cats, said: “The first book, which was to become the basis of Ransomed Hearts, was quickly accepted for publication by a small press.

“Unfortunately, personnel changes there led to its abandonment. After about ten years, I decided to self-publish the Ransomed Hearts books.

This decision led to the release of Fight for the Future in February 2021. Set in the 1960s, it follows the story of two young strangers, Antony and Tomas.

Ransomed Hearts, which was released in August of this year, jumps a few decades into the 1980s and 1990s.

Now a part-time volunteer for a fundraiser for a local cat shelter, Jeanette previously held a variety of jobs, from cooking pigs’ heads for pet food to being an environmental manager for a well-known brand of toilet paper. Most recently she was an admissions tutor at Runshaw College in Leyland.

Describing her books, Jeanette said, “The stories are sci-fi, action and romance, all rolled into one.”

Jeanette will be at the Penwortham Community Library in Priory Lane on Tuesday 18th October from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. She will read excerpts from the books, sell and sign them, and answer questions from readers. Refreshments will be available.
