LITERARY FESTIVAL WILL BE OPENED BY LEICESTER’S BEST-SELLING AUTHOR ADELE PARKS – Pukaar News • Leicester-based news agency
WORLD-renowned authors, including Adele Parks from Leicester, will visit the city later this month, for one of the largest and most diverse literary festivals in the East Midlands.
The annual Leicester Literary Festival, which runs from March 23-26, will be opened by University of Leicester alumni and No.1 bestselling author Adele Parks.
Ms Parks, known for writing a series of bestsellers including ‘Game Over’ and ‘The Other Woman’s Shoes’, will open the event, which is hosted annually by the University of Leicester.
Booker-Prize-winning novelist Howard Jakobson, 2021 Costa Prize-winning novelist Monique Roffey and best-selling children’s author, Pippa Goodhart will also be in attendance, throughout its three-day run, along with travel writers world-renowned Colin Thubron and Monisha Rajesh.
The annual Leicester Literary Festival, which attracts over five thousand visitors a year, brings together award-winning writers and best-selling novelists from different genres, backgrounds and styles and will feature a number of free events at different locations around the city. .
This year’s festival will be relaunched as part of the University’s centenary celebrations. To celebrate this milestone, there will be a series of lectures on other literary centenarians in 2022.
Professor Nishan Canagarajah, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester, said:

“It truly is a festival for everyone and shows how we welcome diversity in everything we do as a university. We look forward to welcoming everyone to this wonderful event.
Dr Harry Whitehead, Director of Literary Leicester, said: “I am delighted to see Literary Leicester 2022 return to live, in-person literary events. We are extremely proud to continue our tradition of bringing renowned authors and engaging discussion topics, 100% free, to our wonderful, diverse city.
“We also work with local schools, libraries and charities. We’re celebrating fifteen years of the Letterbox Club with a fantastic family event on Saturday, March 26, and our Fringe features some of the University’s most exciting research.
“By holding our flagship events in the evenings and at weekends, and remaining completely free, we attract a larger and more diverse audience than many other festivals. In addition to dedicated lit-fest attendees, we also hope to see those who have never considered participating in a literary event before. We are here for everyone.
