On Wednesday, February 16, the Glenbard Parent Series: Navigating Healthy Families will present “Self-Compassion: A Path to Better Parenting” with Kristin Neff at 7 p.m. via Zoom. Go to www.glenbardgps.org for the link to this webinar.

Our first instinct when we fail, suffer or feel inadequate may be to criticize or judge ourselves, but there is a better way to overcome life’s difficulties, says Neff, and that is through self-compassion. . Research shows that people who have self-compassion lead healthier, happier, and more productive lives than those who are self-critical. These people also have the resilience to deal with traumatic or stressful life events.
In this webinar, Neff will discuss practices designed to increase motivation, foster courage and a growth mindset, and bounce back from failure, while cultivating self-compassion.
Neff is a researcher, author, and pioneer in the field of inner strength training and self-compassion. She is an insightful meditation practitioner, associate professor of educational psychology at the University of Texas at Austin, and co-founder of the nonprofit Center for Mindful Self-Compassion. She is also co-developer of a training program called Mindful Self-Compassion, and co-author of “The Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook”, as well as “Teaching the Mindful Self-Compassion Program: A Guide for Professionals”.
