Scheidies plans to continue writing and possibly even produce a standalone novel, but not a book series.
“I can rant and rave about anything,” she joked. “But it’s one thing to have it in mind and write short articles rather than a book. It takes so much time and effort. It’s about formulating it, publishing it and then marketing it — the time commitment is enormous. I just think I don’t have the energy for it anymore.
Writing a book like “Three Sisters of Stanhaven” allows Scheidies to build a world of characters and situations.
“Usually I start with a problem,” she said of her writing process. “It’s like throwing a stone into water and it starts to ripple. That’s how I frame a lot of my stories. I have an idea and I start working outward to see if it has substance. I started with the first book, of course, and kept working. How does this affect everything else? »
The ripples in his storytelling help shape the future stories of the series.
“You can read the stories individually, but they work better together because there’s a thread that holds them all together,” Scheidies said. “I actually have a lot of research material on the era because I’ve written a lot of books on this period. I love history and I ended up falling in love with this period.
