Inglewood author Helen Griffiths is hosting a free globe for school holiday fun

Families can go for walks and hunt globes during these school holidays.

Inglewood author Helen Griffiths has been running the Globe Spotting Hunt since October last year.

“Traditionally, the event takes place in Pukekura Park, but this year I’m thrilled to bring the event to families in South Taranaki as well.”

The Globe Spotting Hunt is inspired by Helen’s book Treasure beyond Measure.

“In the book, people have to find orbs throughout the story, so I took the same concept but hid them around two beautiful parks in Taranaki.”

The event will take place at Pukekura Park and, for the first time, at Hollard Gardens as well. Helen says she’s excited about the extra venue.

“I am grateful to New Plymouth District Council and Taranaki Regional Council for supporting this idea. The feedback has been very positive. It is a fun family event. Families can visit the sites, bring a picnic fuck, finish the hunt and then have lunch.”

Although the event is free, Helen says families must register for the event.

“Each group is assigned a start time, so there is no interaction between groups. The session typically takes 45 minutes to complete the course, find the hidden globes, and answer animal-related questions.”
