A renowned executive recruiter and author has shone the spotlight on his own professional development during the pandemic.
Being part of the 20Twenty leadership program has had a positive impact on Adam Butler, a respected name in the employment industry for nearly two decades.
As Managing Partner of Deeside-based executive search firm Hawk Butler, Adam leads a team of five talented recruiters working with clients across the UK.
Originally from Ewloe and now living in Buckley, he plans to develop further this year after having had time to reflect and react positively to the challenges of Covid-19 and self-isolation.
“Like everyone else, it was uncharted territory and the unknown, but I quickly realized that I had to use this time to do something positive,” said Adam, who has children Joe and Daisy with him. his wife Danielle.
“I had worked with the 20Twenty team and was always interested in joining the CMI Level 7 program, so I took the plunge and I’m so glad I did.
“I went to college and did well, but I didn’t feel like I was reaching my full potential, I always put more emphasis on the experience and that’s maybe -be part of the reason I felt something was missing academically.
“20Twenty has allowed me to fill that void while networking and learning from some amazing businesses in North Wales which will add value for me as an individual and business owner in the future. .”
Adam also took the opportunity to revise and rewrite the popular recruiting guide he published seven years ago: The Hiring Formula – Finding Superstars to Help Grow Your Business.
“The pandemic allowed me to do that and also analyze my own brand and business model, which is when Hawk Butler was born,” he said.
“We’ve always been strong in financial services and financing because that’s my background and where I worked before becoming a consultant.
“But the long-term vision now is to spread our wings further and explore other platforms and sectors given the turbulent nature of recruitment.”
Adam added: “I thought 20Twenty would be a good way to spend some time during lockdown, but it was so much more.
“It was strange to go back to writing assignments after so long, but I really enjoyed testing myself and felt a huge sense of pride and satisfaction completing them.
“It gave me a new perspective and sharpened the tools I already had – after all, we can always learn more and improve.
“I certainly believe I did it and made some great friends along the way.”

The next CMI (Chartered Management Institute) cohort of Levels 5-7 of senior executives, owners and directors begins in September.
Places are still available for the programs – which are 80% funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) through the Welsh Government.
