It’s unclear if Bioware still enjoys trying to give its own games a reasonable story. Now Canadians have acquired the services of a well-known game designer.

Following Mary DeMarle’s appointment to Bioware, it’s also now clear what the author will be working on. Mass Effect’s Michael Gamble has confirmed that DeMarle will join the team as senior narrative director and work on the next Mass Effect.
Original post 04.07.2022:
Canada will change personnel: the author Marie DeMarley leaves Eidos Montreal for Bioware. DeMarle has worked at Eidos for over ten years, primarily responsible for the stories of new Deus Ex games (Mankind Divided, Human Revolution, mobile pop-up) and most recently Guardians of the Galaxy. Incidentally, the latter won the Game Award for Best Novel, which says a lot about DeMarle’s stature.
The author announced the change Friday via LinkedIn. It is not yet known what projects she will work on at Bioware. However, it’s possible it has something to do with Mass Effect 4 or Dragon Age Dreadwolf.
DeMarle’s departure from Eidos Montreal may be linked to the Embracer group’s acquisition of certain studios from Square Enix. The same announced in May that it would acquire Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal, among others, as well as several major brands such as Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and Thief for 300 million US dollars.
