A Wisconsin Dells author and columnist is releasing a new picture book next week featuring a parade, crafts and a reading from his book, “The Quack-a-Doodle Parade.”
According to a statement from Kilbourn Public Library Director Cathy Borck, Wisconsin Dells event contributor Amy Laundrie celebrates her new book on July 7 at 2 p.m. local children.
“The Quack-a-Doodle Parade” is based on the springtime parades of Laundrie’s childhood neighborhood. According to Borck’s statement, participants designed floats, wore “funky” costumes and paraded around the block. According to the story, the parade judge sat in the back of a 1948 Ford truck.
The children present will be able to join Laundrie in recreating her childhood memories. They will participate in crafts, costumes, windmills and parade re-enactments. A classic truck like the one featured in the story will also be at the library for pictures with the kids.
