Cowdenbeath author Shirley Harkness sees new success

A COWDENBEATH author finds success with her series Danny and the Furry Four.

The first novel in Shirley Harkness’s series, Danny and the Furry Four: The Magical Power of Chat, tackles the subject of bullying, and her latest book, Uncle Albert You’re an Evil Genius, was released in November.

She said: “I was studying at the Open University and taking a module called ‘The Science of the Mind’. Subsequently, I had the chance to also publish the next two books in the series.

In the first book, with the help of his talking dogs, Danny helps his classmate overcome the bullying and explains to the teacher what is going on. The story of Danny and his four-legged friend picks up in volumes two and three, with more adventures, from capturing criminals to escaping monsters.

Shirley said: “I plan to continue writing and I have completed book four and if there is a demand I would like to continue the adventure stories as I am starting to get good feedback on the fact that children love talking dogs.

“I mean who doesn’t talk to their dogs and wants them to respond ?!

“I also plan to write adult books and have started this process, so watch this space! ”

Shirley’s fourth book is expected to be published early this year.
