Losing a beloved pet is one of the hardest things a child can go through.
Newly published author Tracey Dean Widelitz hopes her children’s book A celestial world could help children and their parents cope with this loss.
Dean Widelitz was born in Fort Lauderdale, raised in Plantation and has lived at Park Place in Coral Springs for 32 years. She is also a published poet and an accomplished photographer.
“I am thrilled to be a published author and honored to be able to share this story. If there is even one person who is touched by my book and finds comfort in it, it will be worth everything. the money of the world for me,” she said.
She wrote the book after the sudden and painful loss of her family pet, Precious.
“I lost my little shadow. We had to say goodbye to him over the phone after the vet discovered a tumor on his spine. We should have spent many more years with her,” said Dean Widelitz, adding that she believes dogs find their owners and come into their lives for a reason.
She “sat down with her tears” that night and began writing a story of a little girl and her dog that would later become her first book.
She hopes A celestial world can help children, adults and families cope with the loss of a beloved pet and best friend while answering the question of where dogs go when they have to leave their humans .
“Told in a simple, beautiful and heavenly way of their journey with us from start to finish, it’s a heartfelt story of the bond between children and pets,” she said, hoping her book would become a nice “tail” that is read for generations.
published by Newman Springs Publishing, Inc. A celestial world is available in paperback, Nook and Kindle from Barnes and Noble, AmazonWalmart, Books-A-Million and Apple iTunes.
Dean Widelitz will join Story Time at Barnes and Nobles in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday June 25, and sign copies of his book for readers.
Signed copies are also available at the store’s Boca Raton location. The book will soon be available from Barnes and Nobles in Coral Springs and Plantation.
