Best-selling author Tony Park will talk about his new thriller The Pride at two ‘Authors in the Library’ events in Cairns this week.
The author of 20 novels and nine biographies, Mr Park will be at the Cairns City Library tomorrow at 6pm and at the Smithfield Library on Wednesday at 10.30am.
Mr Park has worked as a journalist, press officer, public relations consultant and freelance writer, and also served 34 years in the Australian Army Reserve, including six months in Afghanistan in 2002.
The Australian writer and his wife, Nicola, divide their time between Sydney and southern Africa, where they own a house on the border of Kruger National Park.
The Pride is a story of greed, danger and betrayal, which centers on ex-mercenary Sonja Kurtz, who is driven to exact revenge on an abalone diver who molested her daughter, Emma.
But when the poacher is murdered, Sonja is targeted by a violent local gangster and must flee the country, leaving behind a trail of destruction.
