Author Steven Rowley arrives in Palm Springs

Friends of the Palm Springs Library, star author Steven Rowley at the annual meeting.

PALM SPRINGS — Author Steven Rowley (The Guncle, Lily and the Octopus and The Editor) will be the keynote speaker at the Friends of the Palm Springs Library Annual Meeting on Sunday, May 1 from 2-4 p.m. at the Palm Springs Public Library, 300 S. Sunrise Way.

Established in 1971, the Friends will celebrate more than 50 years of friendship by coming together in person for the first time in two years for their annual meeting.

The annual meeting is for members only. Members can reserve their place for free. Others interested in participating can join Friends for $20 and attend the event, but space is limited. Reservations should be made soon by clicking here.

The Guncle, a June 2020 Library Reading Pick and Goodreads Choice Awards finalist for Novel of the Year, has been published in 20 languages ​​and will be available for purchase at the event, in the new format of pocket. Rowley will sign copies.

Rowley has worked as a freelance writer, newspaper columnist and screenwriter. A native of Portland, Maine, he graduated from Emerson College. Her novel Lily and the Octopus is in development as a feature film at Amazon Studios. His book The Editor was picked up by Twentieth Century for director Greg Berlanti. The feature film rights for The Guncle have been picked up by Lionsgate. He currently resides in Palm Springs with his husband, writer Byron Lane.
