Author Leonie Kelsall returns to the Mount Gambier Library on Sunday July 24 at 11:00 a.m. to launch her third novel, The River Gum Cottage.
The River Gum Cottage is a heartwarming rural romance with strong characters, a community bond, and deals with guilt, betrayal, and unlikely romance. It will let you discover that home is where the heart is.
Mount Gambier Library team leader Kristi Brooks said rural romance novels continue to be one of the library’s most popular genres.
“We are fortunate to have welcomed Leonie Kelsall with her previous two novels, and she had audiences in stitches, combining stories from both her writing and her personal life. Leonie’s books are filled with complex characters and will appeal to anyone who enjoys a good family saga,” Ms Brooks said.
Leonie grew up in South Australia – first on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula in a small town where the school had a total of just eleven pupils, then later on a farm near the beautiful Murray River. Her rural upbringing fostered a love of books, for which she will be forever grateful.
In the novel The River Gum Cottage, Lucie Tamberlani had everything to please: business manager passionate about naturopathy, she had to take over the books of the family strawberry farm in South Australia. But the unexpected fallout of a relationship sees her flee to Melbourne, raising her daughter on her own.
Called back to the farm after her father’s death, Lucie must find a way to deal not only with the grief, guilt and betrayal that forced her to leave, but also the fear of losing her daughter.
Jack Schenscher does it hard: caring for his elderly grandparents and managing their wheat farm while pursuing his passion for sustainable ecological farming on his estate leaves him with little time and even less money.
With the death of his business partner, he could lose everything he worked for. However, when he meets Lucie, can he put aside one passion for another?
