Author Lee Schofield to host a talk for Friends of Ullswater Way
A group called Friends of Ullswater Way has announced that the author, Lee Schofield, will give the next evening talk ‘Understanding Ullswater’.
Lee, who wrote, Wild Fell: Fighting for Nature on a Lake District Hill Farm will give the talk on Thursday, August 4 at Parkin Memorial Hall, Pooley Bridge and also via Zoom at 7:30 p.m.

A spokesperson said: “Lee has been the RSPB’s main site manager in Haweswater since 2013. Ten years ago, the RSPB took over the rentals of two hill farms in Haweswater.
“They are now working in partnership with landowner United Utilities to manage the land in a way that benefits water, wildlife and people.
Gordon Lightburn, Chairman of the Friends of Ullswater Way (FOUW) added: “It promises to be an intriguing evening, full of insights into how a hillside farm can both provide nature, change climate and affordable food, while maintaining the most cherished of hill farming traditions – financial survival.”
FOUW was established in April 2016 to promote awareness of the culture and natural heritage around the Ullswater Way. It was granted charitable status in August 2019.
