Author Julio Rosas says media ignore news when it doesn’t fit the agenda: ‘Deliberate covering of their eyes’

DALLAS – Senior reporter and town hall author Julio Rosas seems to pop up everywhere the news is made, from riots sparked by civil unrest to the crisis along the southern border, but believes mainstream media don’t highlight only the angles that correspond to the liberal agenda.

“Crime is kind of a blind spot with the media, when it comes to certain things, isn’t it? The Highland Park [July 4th shooting] for example, it was everywhere, but I was covering shootings in Chicago during that same weekend, and it was only local media that was there, there was no national media doing the same than me,” Rosas told Fox News Digital at CPAC Texas. dead, I think it’s a deliberate covering of their eyes.”

Rosas, who wrote “Fiery But Mostly Peaceful: The 2020 Riots and the Gaslighting of America,” thinks the 2020 riots he covered closely could impact the 2022 midterm elections because the Americans care about law and order even if the media doesn’t inform voters.

“The effects of the riots are still very present today. We see that with high crime, we see that with progressive prosecutors who don’t really bring law and order to these big cities, and it all comes back , unfortunately, to what happened with George Floyd and I think we kind of lost the plot on that,” Rosas said. “Obviously what happened to him wasn’t good, but then it went to the extreme on the other side, and we were like, ‘Well, we’re going to let a lot of people go because the ‘equity or because racial justice.'”

He noted that crimes such as smash-and-grabs are on the rise, especially in cities run by progressives.

“I think the lack of law and order is definitely one of those issues that people have on their minds on top of the economy, on top of inflation and the border crisis. It’s made worse by everything and in much of it stems back to the anarchy I saw and reported in 2020,” Rosas said.

The title of Rosas’ book was inspired by CNN’s infamous on-screen graphic which stated that the unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin following the police shooting of Jacob Blake was “fiery but above all peaceful”.

During the 2020 unrest, Rosas traveled to a variety of chaotic scenes, including the CHAZ Capitol Hill protests in Seattle, the “fiery but mostly peaceful” riot in Kenosha, and similar riots and demonstrations across the country. Along the way, he witnessed such pivotal moments as the fire at a police headquarters in Minneapolis, and he was at the scene of the shooting of Kyle Rittenhouse, which he details in his book.

“I wrote it because I saw a lot of things and I wanted it to be cemented, but I also wanted to interview people who were also affected by the riots, store owners, just regular Americans because “They also witnessed what happened. They were more affected by her than I was,” he said. “My business was not burned down or looted, I was just there to report it.”

Rosas has since spent time on the ground in South Texas, reporting on the crisis along the border.

“I think the mainstream media have done a decent job, but I mean the bar is pretty low on that because they do pretty well when it comes to reporting monthly numbers, and other things, but overall, I think they’ve lost interest over time,” he said. “It’s an everyday story, that’s kind of the problem, isn’t it?”

As for the border, Rosas thinks outlets should cover it daily to shed light on ongoing issues.

“It’s very, very important, especially because of the ripple effects because, you know, it’s not just affecting the border towns. It’s affecting the rest of the country. We see it not only with the traffic of human beings, sex trafficking but also with drug trafficking that kills thousands of Americans every month,” Rosas said. “The media can do a much better job… they have a lot more resources than me at the town hall, but yet I go there a lot [more] frequently than some of the other mainstream media.”

He believes the Biden administration has instigated migrants to attempt to enter the country illegally, which in turn leads to more deaths.

“Probably the most shocking thing I have seen, and heard of, is the death toll among migrants…migrants who die trying to enter the United States illegally are nothing new, but what’s new under the Biden administration is numbers,” he said. “Obviously when you have more people coming in, the more likely you are to have people coming in. , unfortunately, will not make it.”

During his travels to the southern frontier, Rosas witnessed haunting visuals that stayed with him.

“They’re removing bodies from the Rio Grande to Eagles Pass and Del Rio on a daily basis where before it wasn’t like that, so I think that’s something that hasn’t gotten enough attention and, well sure, we all know why, it’s because it’s happening under a Democratic administration as opposed to a Republican,” he said.

Rosas told the story of a recent trip to the Mexican side of the border, just across Eagle Pass, when he saw a seven-year-old child being given a life jacket by his family before attempting to cross the river.

“They know how dangerous it is to cross and drown, so the fact that it’s basically administration policy now, for little kids to put on a life jacket so they don’t drown in this very dangerous, is very striking,” he said. “Few people understand how sad it is.”
