The project is the initiative of author and Renfrew native Danny Gallagher, with proceeds going to the Renfrew and District Food Bank, the NHA/NHL Birthplace Museum and the Douglas Recreation Committee in Little Gallagher’s hometown of Douglas, where he actually grew up.

The Douglas Rec Committee organizes baseball/volleyball programs in the summer and hockey/broomball events on an outdoor rink.

Gallagher signs copies of four of his most recent books on the Montreal Expos and he shares a portion of the sales with the organizations above. All proceeds from the auction will go to the organizations mentioned.

The silent auction is the big part of the event. So far, donations have been received from the Blue Jays, Via Rail, Goodyear Canada, Major League Baseball, National Hockey League Players Association, New Era, PMA Canada, from Jimmy the Greek Restaurants, baseballs signed by Expos/Jays players, etc. with more to come.

The event is aimed at people from the Renfrew-Douglas area, but also anyone from the Pembroke-Ottawa corridor.

“It’s a chance for people in the Ottawa Valley to come out and support worthy causes,” said Gallagher.

If individuals or companies would like to donate to the cause, please contact Gallagher at 1-647-710-0076 or by email at dannogallagher@rogers.com.
