Arrow Artists will welcome Burwell’s children’s book author to the library

BROKEN BOW — The Arrow Artists will host children’s book author and illustrator Paula Warner at the Broken Bow Public Library on Tuesday, August 16 at 2 p.m.

Warner, a former art teacher at Burwell, is now the author of “Introducing Sandy Crane,” a story about a sandhill crane aptly named “Sandy.” On Tuesday, Warner will do just that: introduce Sandy Crane.

The event will be free and open to all ages, and according to Arrow Artists Secretary Patricia Coslor, Warner will be on hand to “give a brief talk on the book and will be available for book signings.”

Coslor hopes Warner will also take a closer look at his creative process behind the book. “She’s basically an artist and an art teacher, so I imagine she’s very familiar with talking about process.”

Warner may turn out to be one author among many; the Arrow artists reinforce the afternoon with an in-person writing exercise in addition to the book signing, led by the organization’s treasurer and event organizer, June Sheppard.

The Arrow Artists, says Coslor, have found a way to make events like these possible and open to the public through their passionate members, who are always looking to grow their numbers. “We are a non-profit organization. We are a local arts club based in Broken Bow, although most of our members live elsewhere. We meet once a month, and we usually have an activity. The Arrow Artists have been around since 1975, one of the oldest art clubs in the state. Everyone is welcome, we have no age limit.
